By using Sailcasted, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. The service
Sailcasted is a celestial navigation training platform. You receive simulated astronomical observations, solve sight reduction problems, and submit your calculated position. The platform is for educational purposes only — it does not replace real navigation training at sea.
3. Account
- Magic link authentication (no password)
- You must provide a valid email address
- One account per email address
- You are responsible for access to your email
4. Acceptable use
- Do not abuse the platform (spam, automated submissions, scraping)
- Do not share your magic link with others
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer the observation engine
- Instructor accounts: do not misrepresent certifications
5. Content and data
- Observation data is generated from USNO/JPL ephemerides
- Your submissions and calculated positions belong to you
- We retain the right to use anonymized, aggregate data for improving the platform
6. Pricing
- Free courses: no payment required, no commitment
- Paid courses: one-time payment in CAD via Stripe
- Bundles: one-time payment, includes all listed courses
- Prices may change; purchased courses remain accessible
- Instructor plans: Base (free), Pro ($79 CAD/year)
7. Refunds
- Full refund within 48 hours of purchase if no observation has been consulted
- After 48 hours or after viewing an observation: no refund

8. Intellectual property
- Sailcasted, the logo, and the observation engine are property of Technologies ebbDesk
- USNO/JPL ephemeris data is in the public domain
- You may not redistribute observation data commercially
9. Limitation of liability
- Sailcasted is an educational tool — not a substitute for professional navigation training
- We are not responsible for navigation decisions made based on skills practiced on the platform
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding any claim
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
10. Availability
- We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uptime
- Scheduled maintenance is communicated in advance when possible
- Observation delivery depends on email infrastructure
11. Termination
- You can stop using the platform at any time
- We may suspend accounts that violate these terms
- Upon termination, your data is retained for 30 days then deleted
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and applicable Canadian federal law. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of the judicial district of Joliette, Quebec.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
